Female NXT Talent Attend “Fashion Consulting” Meetings (Report)

During a recent chat with Chris Van Vliet on Insight, former WWE Superstar Ember Moon revealed that members of NXT 2.0’s female roster attended meetings in which they were advised to wear more revealing gear.

“We would have to sit through stupid meetings about how we’d have to dress sexy,” Athena recalled. “I remember looking at someone else (and laughing). I cater to children. I’m not about to wear fishnet booty buttcheek shorts because we had a two-hour meeting about how to dress like Mandy Rose,” she continued. “That’s not fair. Mandy is absolutely phenomenal and an amazing person, but not everyone is Mandy Rose.”

According to a recent Fightful report, the aforementioned meetings were devised to provide “fashion consulting” and “fashion aid” to NXT’s female Sports Entertainers with the goal of making them seem larger than life to a TV audience. Per Fightful, WWE procured the services of a fashion expert named Melanie Pace, who conducted the fashion aid meetings.

The Fightful report also states that these meetings ruffled a few feathers backstage and that while the term “dress sexy” was never outright stated, it was strongly implied. Some members of NXT’s female roster reportedly refused to attend these meetings.

These meetings occurred during Triple H’s absence and were a part of the NXT relaunch, which went down last year while The Game was recovering from heart surgery. NXT was relaunched as NXT 2.0 on September 14, 2021. As well as new branding, the revamped version of NXT featured multiple new faces, with several trainees being promoted to on-screen roles.

With all the personnel changes and aesthetic adjustments, this new version of NXT 2.0 bears little similarity to its predecessor. That being said, the current NXT roster features some exciting up-and-coming talent, so it will be interesting to see what the future holds for WWE’s developmental system.
